Reservation & Pickup Policy

Version 1.1Effective: July 14, 2026Last updated: July 14, 2026

BoxNear is a local pickup marketplace. This policy explains the reservation lifecycle and the pickup-code verification step.

1. Lifecycle

  • Pending — created when you start a paid reservation; quantity is held; auto-cancelled after 30 minutes if not paid.
  • Confirmed — payment succeeded and a six-digit pickup code is issued.
  • Picked up — seller redeemed the buyer's pickup code at their location.
  • Cancelled — reservation was cancelled before pickup.
  • Refunded — a full refund was issued.
  • Disputed — a chargeback or dispute is open.

2. Pickup code

After confirmation, BoxNear generates a unique six-digit code and displays it to the buyer. The code is bound to that reservation and to that store. Only the seller of the listing can redeem it. Once redeemed, the code cannot be reused.

3. Pickup window

Every listing shows a pickup window (start/end). Buyers should arrive within that window. Sellers should be reachable at the pickup address during the window.

4. Verification at pickup

The seller enters or scans the buyer's six-digit code in the BoxNear POS to release the items. The reservation is then marked picked up, the store's completed-pickups counter is incremented, and the internal payout hold on that reservation is released.

5. Unit vs lot listings

Listings are sold either per unit (quantity × unit price) or as a single lot (one bundle for a single lot price). Lot listings must be reserved as a whole (quantity is fixed at 1).

6. Notifications

Buyers receive a "payment confirmed" notification with the pickup code, and a "boxes picked up" notification after pickup. Sellers receive a "new paid order" notification with the code and a low-stock or sold-out notification when relevant.
