Cancellation Policy
This policy explains how reservations are cancelled or expire on BoxNear.
1. Pending reservations
When you start a paid reservation, BoxNear creates a pending reservation and holds the item quantity for you. If payment is not confirmed within 30 minutes, the reservation is cancelled automatically and the held quantity is released back to the listing.
2. Failed payments
If Stripe reports a payment failure for a pending reservation, the reservation is cancelled automatically.
3. Confirmed reservations
Once a reservation is confirmed and a pickup code is issued, the buyer or seller may still request a cancellation. If cancellation is granted, a refund is issued through the Refund Policy.
4. Seller-initiated cancellations
A seller may need to cancel a confirmed reservation (for example, inventory error). In that case the seller must issue a full refund. Repeated seller-initiated cancellations count against the store's cancellation counter and may reduce the store's trust tier.
5. Buyer no-show
If a buyer does not appear during the pickup window, the seller may treat the reservation as forfeited under their listing rules. BoxNear may show a no-show indicator on the buyer's account. Refunds after no-show are at the seller's discretion.
6. Free listings
Free reservations can be released at any time by the buyer through the reservations page. Repeated abuse (reserving free items without picking up) may lead to account limits.
