Seller Payout Policy

Version 1.1Effective: July 14, 2026Last updated: July 14, 2026

This policy explains how BoxNear releases seller funds and how Stripe pays them out to your bank account.

1. Where funds are held

When a buyer pays, funds are captured on the platform's Stripe account and the seller's share is transferred to the seller's connected Stripe account (a destination charge). From that point the funds are held by Stripe under your Stripe Connect Express account balance, subject to Stripe's payout schedule for your account.

2. Payout schedule

Payouts from your Stripe balance to your bank account are governed by Stripe. You can view and change the payout schedule and bank account inside the Stripe Express dashboard (link available from your BoxNear Payouts page).

3. Internal payout holds

BoxNear maintains an internal payout hold flag on each reservation to reflect whether the underlying order has been fulfilled and is out of its dispute window:

  • Set to true when a reservation is created and paid.
  • Set to false when the seller redeems the buyer's six-digit pickup code, marking the order picked up.
  • Set to true automatically when Stripe reports a dispute or the reservation transitions to a disputed state.

This flag is internal to BoxNear's accounting; Stripe's actual payout timing is separately governed by Stripe.

4. Refunds and reversals

Refunds are executed through Stripe with refund_application_fee and reverse_transfer enabled — the platform fee is reversed proportionally and the corresponding transfer to the seller is reversed. See Refund Policy.

5. Taxes and 1099-K

Where required, Stripe issues tax forms (such as Form 1099-K) to sellers based on their Stripe Connect account activity. Sellers are responsible for all sales, use, income, and other taxes related to their sales.

6. Disconnecting Stripe

You may disconnect Stripe from your store by contacting support. Doing so does not reverse payouts already scheduled by Stripe. Paid listings will be paused until Stripe is re-connected.
