Prohibited Items Policy

BoxNear's approved listing categories are boxes, packing materials, scrap metal, construction materials, recyclables, and business surplus. Items outside those categories, or falling into the list below, may not be listed.

1. Never allowed

  • Firearms, ammunition, explosives, fireworks, or weapons of any kind.
  • Illegal drugs, controlled substances, or drug paraphernalia.
  • Alcohol, tobacco, vaping products, or cannabis (including hemp/CBD products).
  • Hazardous waste, radioactive material, medical waste, or biohazards.
  • Live animals, animal parts, or animal byproducts requiring regulated handling.
  • Human remains, organs, or bodily fluids.
  • Counterfeit goods, stolen property, or items with removed serial numbers.
  • Items subject to recall, or items that infringe another party's intellectual property.
  • Adult content or sexual services.
  • Prescription drugs, medical devices, or items requiring a license to sell.
  • Financial instruments, gift cards, or currency (fiat or crypto).
  • Personal data, credentials, or account access.

2. Restricted (must be handled with care)

  • Scrap metal that requires state ID logging for sale — comply with local laws; BoxNear will not act as a scrap-metal dealer of record.
  • Construction materials with residual lead, asbestos, or treated-wood chemicals — must be clearly labeled and comply with all local hazardous-material rules.
  • Electronics — must not contain PII or accessible storage; you are responsible for wiping data.
  • Items that are legal in some jurisdictions but not others — you are responsible for compliance at the pickup location.

3. Stripe restricted businesses

Because payments run through Stripe, sellers must also comply with Stripe's Restricted Businesses list. If Stripe blocks a category on your account, you may not use BoxNear to sell it either.

4. Enforcement

Listings that violate this policy will be removed. Repeat violations lead to store suspension and possible removal from the platform.
